Leveling the STOL Field: The Deep South Husky Shoot Out Unleashes Equalized Rivalry
Are you ready to take your rivalry to new heights?
The Deep South Husky Shoot Out invites pilots of all aircraft makes and models to participate in a friendly yet thrilling competition. Whether you fly a Husky, a Cessna 170, or any other STOL aircraft, this is your chance to challenge your rival and settle the score in an epic STOL SHOOT OUT!
This new and unique STOL event is leveling the competition field by bringing the focus more to piloting skills, and making it less about the aircraft; by building classes by specific make and model type. This is a single-elimination event, It's a SHOOT OUT!
Gather three other pilots with the same make and model of aircraft to create a class. Once you have four like aircraft, it's time to enter the Shoot Out
In each heat, two aircraft, and only two, will face off against each other. Each pilot's takeoff and landing distances are recorded, and after a single run, the pilot with the shortest distance wins the SHOOT OUT and advances while the defeated pilot returns to parking.
This elimination process continues until the best pilot in each class emerges victorious. Bragging rights and cool trophies await these top pilots, and the winning Husky Aircraft pilot will also be rewarded with a weekend getaway at the prestigious L'auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles, LA.

Make sure you are apart of this new and exciting STOL Event hosted in Jennings, Louisiana at Jennings Airport (3R7) on September 8th & 9th, 2023!
Registration and Proceeds:
- Competitor registration is $50, with all proceeds going towards supporting the initiatives of EAA Chapter 541.
Camping
- Dry Camping is available for $35
Schedule:
Friday, September 8th:
- 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM: Arrival and set up
- 4:00 PM: Fly out to Di's Cajun Restaurant
Saturday, September 9th:
- 9:00 AM: Mandatory Safety Briefing
- 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM: First rounds for all aircraft brands
- 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM: Lunch break
- 1:00 PM until completion: Final rounds and Husky shootout
- 6:00 PM: Dinner at Mike's Steak and Seafood
